Regional functions in 2006

The Central Bohemian Regional Budget Libraries Support Plan came into effect 1st January 2006. This divides support for libraries established by municipalities into direct (subsidy programme for municipalities establishing basic libraries not authorized to perform regional functions and a special subsidy for authorized libraries) and indirect, consisting in support through the region-wide regional function of the Central Bohemian Research Library in Kladno and support through the system of regional functions provided by five authorized libraries.

Regional function 1

Advisory and consultation activity, planning and analysis activity

Provided by five authorized libraries through the procedural management system.

Regional function 2

Librarian training, seminars, symposia

Provided by the Central Bohemian Research Library in Kladno in collaboration with the five authorized libraries.

Regional function 3

Purchasing (acquisition) and processing of the central library exchange stock

Purchasing and processing arranged by Central Bohemian Research Library in Kladno in collaboration with the five authorized libraries.
The exchange stock is the property of the Central Bohemian Region.

Regional function 4

Work on the central library exchange stock

The five authorized libraries arrange for the creation of movable collections and their circulation within the defined region.

Subsidy programme for basic libraries established by municipalities in the Central Bohemian Region

A subsidy programme based on the Central Bohemian regional budget for all municipal libraries except authorized libraries. Subsidies are provided in particular to improve the environment of municipal libraries providing public services, and to improve the overall quality of the technical conditions for this activity, i.e. first and foremost, to equip libraries, to provide PCs, software and other equipment. A subsidy may also be provided for self-contained library projects aiming to develop libraries as multicultural municipal centres that make a substantial contribution to the cultural life of the municipality and the broader region.
