Provides information from its own library holdings (i.e. from books, magazines, collections, CD-ROMs and other documents), from sources on the internet (both freely available and in some cases paid or licensed), from documents acquired via interlibrary services and from other sources.

• searches in the Czech National Bibliography and in catalogues from libraries in the Czech Republic and abroad
• searches in online and CD-ROM databases
• searches for legislation
• press monitoring – monitoring and recording specific information from the mass media

Reprographic services

• making copies of documents or parts thereof from the Central Bohemian Research Library library holdings in Kladno or through interlibrary services
• press output from electronic sources, copies saved on diskette or CD

There are four PCs with internet access in the information services section.

Licensed online sources

The Central Bohemian Research Library in Kladno provides access to certain electronic sources of full-text or bibliographic information. PCs are available in the information services section and at the Internet Centre, as well as on some other computers in the library.

EBSCO – access to full-text humanities and social sciences databases

OCLC First Search – searches in the WorldCat global catalogue, papers and information from scientific and scholarly conferences, information on articles from periodicals

Knovel K-ESSENTIALS – provides access to information on the natural sciences, technology, health and hygiene, pharmacy and foodstuffs

Courses for users

Information services staff arrange lessons on services provided by the Central Bohemian Research Library in Kladno for various interested groups (students, senior citizens and others)

Training is regularly arranged for those using library service computers:

• searching in the electronic catalogue at the Central Bohemian Research Library in Kladno
• working with the internet
• working with the MS Word word processor program
• working with the MS Excel spreadsheet program

Training in the management building (no. 1624) computer training room is free and is particularly aimed at those new to working with computers.
