Interlibrary service

Interlibrary services are a set of lending, information and reprographic services provided mutually by libraries with the aim of making library documents, irrespective of the place where they are deposited, available to all their users.

The Central Bohemian Research Library in Kladno is involved in interlibrary services in the Czech Republic as a library which:

• provides documents and information from its holdings for the requirements of the users of other libraries
• arranges for documents and information to be sent from the holdings of other libraries for the requirements of its own users

The Central Bohemian Research Library in Kladno is a regional interlibrary services centre which:

• guarantees the availability of local document output for libraries in the Central Bohemian region and the availability of regional document output for libraries throughout the Czech Republic.

Interlibrary services may also involve:

• acquisition and dispatch of information (e.g. on a required document)
• dispatch of a document copy or part thereof

International interlibrary services

If a foreign document has not been found in library holdings in the Czech Republic, the Central Bohemian Research Library in Kladno may request the document from a library abroad, via any of these Czech libraries:

• National Library of the Czech Republic – National Interlibrary Services Centre
• State Technical Library
• National Medical Library
• Library of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
• Moravian Library in Brno
• Research Library in Olomouc
