Outside loan services – home loans

Literature loan department

Collection: specialist and popularized non-fiction, textbooks, lecture notes, standards, maps, fiction, literature for children and young adults

Ordering procedure:

  • order from the electronic catalogue (on the internet or in the loan department)
  • ordered documents are issued at the check-out desk:
    - from the local stores while you wait
    - from a depository within the period stipulated in the request catalogue
    - from the open access section while you wait, unless the document is selected by another reader while the request is being dealt with (in the case of internet orders, a message is sent by SMS or e-mail if the request is fulfilled, and information on the fulfilled request simultaneously appears in the reader's account)
  • independent selection from the new items open access section

Recording loans:

  • books issued from stores or selected from the open access section are handed by the reader to the desk staff in the entrance hall so they can record the loan and deactivate protective devices

Returning documents:

  • documents from the literature loan department are returned on the ground floor of the main library building

Collection: audio media (CDs, cassettes, gramophone records), "audio books" (cassettes with readings for the blind), videocassettes, sheet music (scores)

Ordering procedure:

  • order from the electronic catalogue (on the internet or in the loan department)
  • order from printed lists, or from the open access section in the case of gramophone records
  • ordered documents are prepared and issued while you wait

The loan is recorded by staff as the document is issued. Documents are returned at the staff desk in the music section.

In-house reference loan services – loans for study in the library

Holdings:

  • general ready reference collection (located in the loan department and information services section) – encyclopedias and books on various specialist subjects, marked with subject numbers in red
  • ready reference collection of regional literature (located in information services section) – books relating to the Central Bohemian region (topography) and to people associated with Central Bohemia, marked with a red R
  • open access to newspapers and magazines (located in the study room), other newspaper and magazine titles from the depository
  • books and other documents from the depository designated for in-house reference loans (legal deposits, regional literature, rare and expensive publications etc)

Ordering and loan procedure:

  • the reader independently selects documents from the ready reference collections and newspapers and magazines located in the study room
  • books from the depository are ordered from the electronic catalogue as in the case of outside loans

Collection: audio media which for copyright protection reasons cannot be loaned outside (up to nine months from the date of release or purchase).

Audio media may be listened to on equipment in the music section.
